Note: This article is an add-on to our ongoing series, in conjunction with Dr. Richard Sauder, on the existence of a vast network of underground bases throughout the country.
Read part 1 of the series: “Nazi Engineers, Secret U.S. Military Bases, and Elevators To The Subterranean and Submarine Depths.”
The Vary High Speed Transit System (VHST) was a Rand Corporation concept that was presented to the military industrial complex in the 1970′s.
The concept was way ahead of it’s time, exactly what the secret sinister government needed to connect their vast expansions of underground bases throughout the United States and in various regions worldwide.
This could offer an explanation for some of the recent strange sounds and booms across the country.
The late (and presumably murdered) Phil Schneider spoke about what he called an Electro Magneto Leviton Train System that traveled at speeds in excess of Mach 2.
The VHST and its proposed routes, (vast advanced tunnel systems) at the time of it’s conception in the early 1970′s, fit and follow other underground base researchers findings as well as some of my own.
An interesting aspect within the Rand Corp. document is the fact that the tunnels are way to expansive to pump all of the air out at once to create the frictionless environment needed travel at speeds in excess of 10,000+ MPH.
The air has to be evacuated from the tunnel system in segments with large crucially timed mechanized door systems as the train passes through each vapor locked section.
Electrical and mechanical noises would ensue from such operation of massive airlock doors throughout the tunnel system once the underground bases or VHST were fully operational.
During this process strange air like sounds, hums, and mechanized sounds would persist especially if the tunnels were at a depth of 400 – 800 feet (semi shallow in underground base terms). Energy is also returned into the system as the trains decelerate.
The recent Clintonville booms might also be explained as underground sonic booms.
As the trains reach the speed of sound, a sonic boom could be heard and felt. Multiple booms could persist in one area as the train reaches the speed of sound at the same point in the tunnel system every trip.
The following article entitled ‘L.A. to N.Y. in Half an Hour? 10,000 – M.P.H. Tunnel Train Plan Developed’, was first published in the year 1972 by the LA Times;
LA Times
June 11, 1972A Rand corporation physicist has devised a rapid transit system to get you from Los Angeles to NY in half an hour for a $50 fare. He said existing technology made such a system feasible and so does a cost analysis. The essence of the idea is to dig a tunnel more or less along the present routes of U.S. highways 66 and thirty. The tunnel would contain several large tubes for East West travel of trains that float on magnetic fields, moving at top speeds of 10,000 mph. Passengers would faced forwarded during acceleration, backward during deceleration.
According to R. M. Salter Jr. head of the physical sciences department at Rand, the idea of high-speed train travel using electromagnetic suspension was first put forward in 1905 and actually patented in 1912. The trains he suggested now would be single cars rather than actual trains, and would be big enough to carry both passengers and freight, including large containers and automobiles.
The cars, or gondolas, would leave the New York and Los Angeles terminals at one minute or even 30-second intervals. On the main line thereA would be intermediate stops at Amarillo and Chicago. Feeder lines would meet the main lines at both locations.
There would also be subsidiary lines coming into the two main terminals from such cities as San Francisco, Boston and Washington. The main idea of VHST, or Very High Speed Transit, developed originally in thinking about the satellite program and hyper sonic aircraft speeds.” Salter said in an interview at Rand.
“The underground tubes were for suggested as alternatives, perhaps not quite seriously, but it was soon apparent that the idea of a tunnel containing such tubes had a lot of real advantages.” he said.
In the first place, he explained there is the extremely important matter of the use and conservation of immense amounts of energy needed to move the vehicles at such great speed. “An airplane that travels faster than sound uses up a large part of its available energy supply just in climbing to an altitude where the speeds for which it is designed are possible.” Salter said. “That’s true of rockets to. Much of their energy is spent and lost forever and getting above the atmosphere.”
This would not be true for the VHST gondolas traveling on their electromagnetic rail beds, according to Salter. The tubes would be emptied of air, almost to the point of vacuum, so the trains would not need much power to overcome air resistance. They would not even have to be streamlined. In addition to an electromagnetic roadbeds, the opposing electromagnetic loops of wires in the floors of the gondolas would be super cooled with liquid Helium to further eliminate electrical resistance.
Just as important, the gondolas would, like old-fashioned trolley cars, generate power as they break to a stop. “Since the trains would be leaving New York and Los Angeles simultaneously every minute, the power generated by cars breaking coming into the terminal would be transferred to the power lines propelling the cars going the other way.”
“For example, there will be halfway points between each stop. Trains would use power and getting to that halfway point, and generate power going the other half of the way to the stop. Each would use power generated by trains going in the other direction.” That is the way trolley cars have operated for eighty years – taking power from the overhead lines while accelerating or running along at a steady speed, and putting power back into the lines while breaking or coasting.
The big drawback to the Salter scheme is the cost of tunneling across the nation. He admitted that it would be expensive but it does not daunt him. “After the tunneling was finished, everything else would be practically free.” He said. Even at the low fair he proposes, the enormous debt created by the tunneling would be amortized within a reasonable period if the number of passengers and the amount of freight came up to Salter’s expectations.
He figures the tunnel’s would carry seven or 8 million tons of freight a day and that passengers would take to traveling back and forth between the Eastern West Coast has readily as they now fly between San Francisco and Los Angeles. “The technology of this is much easier than was developed for the space program.”Salter said. And tunnels, he added, need not be so expensive to dig is people think.
The most expensive thing about surface routes is the acquiring right-of-way and removing buildings that stand on the chosen route. The tunnel would not incur this expense. The tunnel, besides carrying tubes for passenger and freight gondolas, would carry many of the utilities now strung across the countryside on high wires. Salter said these underground power “lines” could be super-cooled with helium, like the electromagnetic loops in the floors of the gondolas. He said this would so reduce resistance that power could be transferred from one end of the country to the other without appreciable loss.
At the present time long distance transportation of power is difficult because of the amount of energy wasted. He said laser beams could be carried in the tunnel for the instantaneous transmission of messages. Even the mail could go cross-country in pneumatic tubes carried in the tunnel. All this would save money and speed amortization, thus cutting the overall cost of tunneling. Salter said approximately 8000 miles of tunnel were dug in America and Western Europe in the 1960s.
That includes mine shafts. But he said existing tunneling technology could be vastly improved. Salter said many tunnels are dug nowadays almost as they would have been in the dark ages. Drilling holes in tunnel faces, and using machines with rotary bits are methods of tunneling that can be improved, according to him. He said the tunnel could be worked on from a great many “faces,” for instance. Salter suggested, too, that electronic beams or even water be used to drill holes for blasting. The high-powered electrons would drill blasting holes almost instantaneously.
Projections of future airplane and automobile travels in the United States, and the future train and truck transfer of freight, show that Salter’s tunnel idea is not a science fiction fantasy.
There will be more room in the tunnels for all the necessary transport than there will be over any feasible number of Airways and freeways and tracks. Salter’s suggestion, according to the experts who have had a look at it, is an eminently practical one for handling all the necessary traffic cleanly and without clogging up the air and surface pathways. But it will such a system ever be developed? Salter himself is not optimistic.
“Perhaps” is how he puts it. “I am not nearly so optimistic about the political aspects of the problem as I am about our technical capability of doing the job.” He said. “History shows that some obviously feasible and practical projects, such as the tunnel proposed over and over again for connecting England and France under the English channel, can be put off for centuries because of political pressure.
On the other hand, societies with relatively primitive technology can perform such engineering feats as the erection of impairments.” Is the VHS T too far out? Salter suggested that to get the right perspective we should look back 100 years.
By comparing transportation a century ago and transportation today, one gets a better feel for just how practical VHST is. It appears to be a logical next step, and much more practical than its alternatives of filling the highways and Airways with more and more individually guided vehicles. “This alone is a compelling reason for the high-speed system.” Salter said. T
here are others, according to him. “We can’t afford any longer to continue indefinitely to pollute the skies with heat, chemicals, not to mention noise, or to carve up the land with pavement.” He said. “We also need to get the trucks and many of the cars off the highway to make the roads available to drivers who drive the family car for fun and convenience.”
As the former official host of The Intellihub Radio Show, I have to admit I have interviewed some interesting people. However, one interview in particular has always stood out to me.
The interview was with the owner of a private underground base construction company with military ties. During the interview it was stated that for some reason the people in the know are indeed gearing up at a rapid rate for some event that is to occur in the not so distant future.
What might this event be?
Why are the bases activating?
This technology is 100% real and fully functional in the present day.

Hmmm….isn’t there something like $26B missing from the Pentagon???
I wonder where it went…
The new aircraft for the airforce have cost over $1 trillion so far and they are still a long way from being built. Those aircraft are just a front for something else. It’s not a waste of money, it’s money being directed for something else.
On the day before 9-11 former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld accidently released information that was never intended to be revealed to American taxpayers – that 2.3 trillion (not billion) dollars was missing according to the Pentagon accounting office. Fortunately Rumsfeld’s Defense colleagues initiated imediate damage control measures by firing a missile which destroyed the Pentagon accounting office and all its records. With the destruction of the World Trade Center towers that same morning which was blamed on alleged Middle Eastern terrorists (Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Israel, Iraq, etc.) the controlled mainstream media preoccupied with the state of war in the U.S. all but forgot about the missing 2.3 trillion dollars…
There is over 3 trillion missing from the Pentagon. The very day before 9/11, Rumsfeld announced that over 1 trillion was missing from the pentagon budget and they don’t know where it went. Everyone of course forgot about the missing trillion because of 9/11. By now, that budget loss would be over three trillion. More than enough to dig the tunnels, equip them and run the shuttles.
The thing is, it is probably not just in the US but around the world. My guess is that they have tunnels under the oceans and world travel at over 10,000 MPH is now going on under the noses of the sheeple.
GOD’s word the bible predicted this:
Isaiah 2:19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
Isaiah 2:20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
Isaiah 2:21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
Stever from Ohio,
What is there in the Scriptures that you
quoted that indicates that God predicted the
man made underground bases?
It’s 2.3 Trillion with a T, taken by Rabbi Dov Zakheim and presumably sent to Israel.
The article did not mention the ‘Subterrene’–a Lithium nuclear ion drill head which can tunnel at 6 MPH through granite via 2000 degrees F. No kerf. Ceramic glazed lining. Similar to airtight vacuum message tubes used in Macy’s since the 30′s. I downloaded a document about the contraption 12 years ago. I have others. This is an excerpt in one of them:
Subterrenes
Nuclear powered tunnelling machines.
“Since the 1950’s, the US Government has had nuclear powered tunneling machines. They were patented in the 1970′s (US Patents #3,693,731). As it burrows through the rock hundreds of feet below the surface, the Subterrene heats whatever stone it encounters into molten rock, or magma, which cools after the Subterrene has moved on. The result is a tunnel with a smooth, glazed lining, somewhat like black glass, which is also apparently strong enough that it doesn’t even require reinforcing of the walls. It was featured in OMNI magazine, Sept 1983, p80.
“I happened to see a picture of (what I assume is) one of these machines in a UFO magazine, but at $15, I wasn’t going to (let alone couldn’t afford to) buy it. Then I was visiting a friend and he showed me the wierdpics.com website, and lo and behold, there was the picture. Hmmm, what would the US airforce be doing tunneling deep under the ground?
Picture of a ‘small’ burrowing tool, but it can’t be displayed.
So, with the above picture and the US Patent Office patent, I think that adds up to incontrovertible evidence that these things are real. And further to that, it is highly likely that the claims of underground bases and tunnels across America (if not the world) are indeed true.
“For those of you aware of the difficulties encountered in the Burnley tunnel being constructed in Melbourne, Australia, just think, we could have been driving under the Yarra years ago if they used this machine. And none of these delays caused by leakages due to cracks which are the direct result of a large corporation trying to save money and constructing a cheap tunnel instead of doing it the correct way (double layered as per the Sydney Harbour tunnel).”
Type ‘subterrene’ in gibiru.com.

On that train all graphite and glitter undersea by rail, 90 minutes from New York to Paris… “IGY” Donald Fagan
Don’t have time to read the article. Anybody want to explain in three sentences or less how the human body could withstand such quick travel?
easy! relativity for one, how fast do you think the earth travels? think about the difference between riding a bike and riding in a car at the same speed, a huge difference can be felt, in that case it is the air-resistance which causes the bike to feel different, when in a car your body will not feel the speed at which you are travelling, understand? So in a train, it would be the same, you could not tell at what speed you were traveling. What you do feel in an enclosed space is acceleration. G-forces, this is what you’re thinking will cause the problem i suppose, if the acceleration is moderated correctly, then it would be no different than accelerating to 100mph in a car, you just have to keep going to reach 10000mph. accelerating from 10-20 mph in a given amount of time feel exactly the same, in an inclosed space(car/train/spaceship), as accelerating from 9990-10000 mph if done in the same amount of time.
that was more than 3 sentences.
The speed isn’t the possible problem, it is the acceleration, which is proportional to the force on your body. 0-10,000 mph in 7.5min is the same as 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds, so you could handle it.
Yea, what Salter tends to forget, is the facts. The higher and more advanced our technology and standard of living = the higher cost of living which includes energy, food, water, shelter, transportation and etc. Computerizing/robotizing the workplace has long ago proven it, everything from Banking, assembly line production, processors to book/recordkeeping etc.. Technology is manipulated/controlled to be consistant with layoffs and higher prices to the general public. Big O’s Peace-time Martial Law Executive Order pretty well covers this tunnel travel concept. Departure and arrival locations no doubt coincide with the future population centers within the so called Ten Regions. On Salter’s tunnel travel plans, one should consider the Biosphere and wildlands program, the Council of Ten Governors, The Rural Council, Peacetime Martial Law executive order and etc.. Time and Speed is most relevant to Control, Enforcement and maneuverability.
no, you are forgeting a few things, technology DOES decrease cost, you just don’t understand money supply and inflation, if you price things in 1910 dollars, they are cheaper today than in 1910, or if you price things in oz. of gold, you’ll discover the same trend, mostly because our money was tied to gold because it has value as a tradeable asset. but sticking to US dollars, technology lowers the price, consider the 50000$ plasma tv, please do find me the more expensive plasma tv today? oh thats right, increased use of the technology lowered the cost of production as efficiency and competition increased. this is true across the board, show me the more expensive computer than the one you bought in the 90′s, the important distinction here is capabilities, things which cost the same or more today offer more than they used to, start indexing (economics term; look it up)items to a specific year’s dollar and you will re-adjust your comments.
Yea, actually, I do understand inflation and the value of the dollar. Manipulation causes inflation.
Actually thats not true. In terms of “dollars” things today are more expensive in relation to wages. You are trying to compare apples (silver/gold back) dollars to rotten apples (Federal Reserve Notes). Skip to 1933, if you failed to turn over 5-$20 Gold coins for the $100 Federal Reserve Gold Certificates; your 5 $20 gold coins woul dhave the purchasing power of $8500 but the $100 FRGC would be worth only $6.
In relation to a manipulated gold and silver market things only appear cheaper, but if you look at the price of essentials in relation to your wages you have less disposable income after taxes than in 1910.
You can not compare asset backed dollars to debt back dollars and draw a conclusion that prices are cheaper. Essentials are all that matter in determining any attempt at price comparasions, not cars or plasma TVs.
Cool article, very interesting topic, but one big error ruins part of your argument.
-If these tunnels are air evacuated, then sonic booms will not be created.
also as another person astute pointed out, the army has nuclear powered drillers that probably can make these tunnels very economically!
not a complete vacuum, just enough to allow MachII speed travel
Interesting stuff. However, for the system to work, air must be removed from the tunnel segment where the “train” is. No air, no sonic boom. Also, any mechanical failure like a set of doors opening or closing at the wrong time or not opening or closing at all would be disasterous.
Get real.
“10,000 Plus M.P.H. Tunnel Train Used for Underground Bases?”
Aha, yeah, ok,.. man, those must be some high tech “G” Suits everyone is wearing on those trains to keep their brains and insides from turning into oatmeal.
Jet Fighter pilots can only pull about 7G’s at 3900 MPH without blacking out using state of the art “G” suits so I’m thinking the 10.000.00 MPH train thing is pretty laughable BS !
G is a unit of acceleration,(for turns in planes) mph is a unit of the magnitude of velocity. (speed) We’re traveling together on something much faster than 10,000mph right now called the Earth, and I’m not wearing any G suit.
But the Earth isn’t accelerating or decelerating, otherwise people WOULD feel the force (and possibly be hurled out into space). As many have posted, it’s the acceleration that causes the bodily stress, not the final speed.
As someone who was around in the 1970s, I know there was NO construction of underground tunnels. This article sounds like more of a psyop for younger folk. Are people that easily deceived? This does not explain the booms which in most cases are heard for a brief period of time, then never again.
This article is science fiction, to put it politely. In other words, baloney.
I’m with you. The technology seems a bit far-fetched, and rather unjustifiable too. There is no conceivable reason why someone would need to go from LA to NY in 30 minutes. The occasions on which such expediency would be valuable are so few and far between that it wouldn’t warrant such a cumbersome and costly project, even if the technology were viable.
Far fetched? There was once a time when it was believed you would die if you traveled faster than 30 MPH in an automobile and that is obviously not true. We have sent men to the moon and you find a fast train inconceivable? My point is that people have a tendency to not believe anything unless they see it for them selves and that alone is not enough to disprove or prove anything. Think of all the cool movies from the 70′s till present day showing futuristic tech, weapons, and vehicles that we take for granted today like the personal computer, cell phones, nano tubes, cloaking crystals and more. Think of how someone from 1940 would react if you told them they could talk to someone across the world in real time complete with audio and video with a device that was self powered and smaller than a human hand. You also have to take into account that the technology presented and introduced to the general public is probably 50 to 100 years behind what governments and people in power are using.
As someone who was around in the 70′s Redux know all. If a tunnel was constructed without his knowledge ..well it just couldn’t happen- it would be imposssible – why do people like him write such drivel.
Did they compute how many billions of little tiny pieces the passengers, crew and accompaniments would turn into in the event of even the smallest earthquake? You will never get me on the thing and I would take the first flight to the moon or Mars that I could afford.
Vary ? Hmmm… Does that mean VERY , or that the high speeds are VARIABLE , such as in my car when I put my right foot down or lift it up .
Nothing traveling in a vacuum can create a sonic boom. It requires air to do so.
Truth is stranger than fiction!
Since the train runs in a vacuum you would not hear any sonic boom from it.
I disagree, I served in the seventies. I am a former Army Security Agency, agent, sniper, “assassin” (for the Govt. ie, MACV, CIA, Phoenix Project and others still classified) in the US as well as abroad. One of our safe bases was under a Government building that had no idea we were there, here in the US. We accessed the base about 30 miles out, all underground. Remember the original radar detectors going off in the middle of nowhere? They were picking up security systems. The story may not be 100 percent accurate, but I was using technology in the 70s that modern movies show as new weapons of the 21st century. We could pick a face out of Thousands from satellites back then. We had satellite phones before cell phones were offered to the civilians. There was much technology that I don’t even know about, today. Much less what we had in the seventies. I was apart of two agencies that were merged or “done away with” to protect the agents and/or soldiers after Vietnam and Watergate. Just saying if you can think it, it already exists.
Sonic booms in a vacuum… Hmm…NOT!
Meanwhile!…at the legion of doom 42 years later!…
Wow, in 1972 the LA Times apparently had no copy editors. That original article contains numerous spelling and grammatical errors that any middle school student could recognize. I wonder if it was simply transcribed to web by an incompetent boob, or if it appeared that way in print.
