Voters in Colorado and Washington have decided to legalize cannabis for recreational use, however the feds have promised to ignore states rights and lock people up anyway, regardless of local laws.

Bob Tuskin reported on the story for The Intellihub this morning, saying that:

“Both Colorado and Washington have passed referendums legalizing cannabis use. The plant is still made illegal according to federal law.

Colorado’s Proposition 64 makes it legal for anyone over the age of 21 to possess marijuana and for businesses to sell it.  It will be interesting to see how the feds treat this.

Barry Soetoro claimed he would not go after legal medical facilities and respect state laws. Fail!”

The local politicians, even those who opposed the initiative, actually seem to be respecting the will of the voters, but they have also expressed that the feds will not be so understanding.

Last night Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, an opponent of Amendment 64 told reporters that:

“The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will. This will be a complicated process, but we intend to follow through.

That said, federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug so don’t break out the Cheetos or gold fish too quickly.”

Unfortunately, he is right, the feds do intend to carry on the drug war within the borders of states that have legalized cannabis.

This will without a doubt lead to a period of legal conflict within these states and more innocent nonviolent drug users will continue to be put behind bars.

However, the good news to this is that a crackdown of this nature will make the drug war look even worse than it already does and prove that the federal government is going against the wishes of the popular vote.

Up until the past few years, the establishment has actually had public opinion on their side in regards to the drug war, but as more people are learning the truth about prohibition that advantage has begun to slip away.

For the feds to blatantly ignore the wishes of the voters will further undermine the drug war and undermine the electoral process itself.

With that being said, smoking cannabis openly and proudly in these states will be an act of civil disobedience that many are currently planning.

You can’t arrest everyone and, when a law becomes truly unenforceable, is when it will actually be rendered obsolete.

It’s important to remember that just because the law has been written down onto paper though, doesn’t mean that the battle is over.

  1. Maybe Colorado and Washington will respond by arresting federal agents that attempt to usurp state law! Remember, the Constitution says any powers not expressly given to the federal government are reserved for the State or the people. The power to regulate drugs within a State’s borders is NOT expressly given to the federal government.

    • U.S. constitution and the bill of rights= VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW or by the Obamuslim regime.

    • Is there a very specific law or doctrine or Supreme Court ruling which says that federal law trumps state law? Upon what specific legal ground does federal law trump state law? I’m aware of the power reserved to the states, so upon what basis is the concept of federal law trumping state law? Can it be documented in black and white? Research on this question welcome.

      • Yes, f3ederal law trumps state law when a conflict arises between federal law and state law. It’s called the ‘supremacy clause’.

        • Angela, you are 100% incorrect. The supremacy clause says that the US constitution is the supreme law of the land and all other laws are subordinate to it. Since that is the case and since the US constitution does not grant the authority to the federal government to be involved in drug prohibition, the federal government has no authority to pass such drug laws therefore all federal drug “laws” are void ab initio and unenforceable.

But Chairman Mao hit the nail on the head when he said that political power grows out of the barrel of a gun, so my recommendation is to buy some good guns and lots and lots of ammunition. There are many federal employees to deal with.

          • laughing foryou420

The FEDS won the Civil War and took over a long time ago. They got all the really big guns. Just saying. They will fight for years to control Cannabis at a rescheduled two level, at the most.

    • Man no cop could ever arrest a DEA agent… lol the DEA agent would probably slap him and take his gun

  2. the feds need to comprehend the basic fact of life, that their “opinion” is not desired nor required. we the people, frankly, don’t care what the feds have to say on just about any subject at all. they have made themselves obsolete and rendered themselves irrelevant by their well known history of blatant and flagrant abuse of power…and the fops wish to determine how we live our lives???? yeah, dream on…..someone’s been in the evidence room just a little bit too long, if they think this tactic is really going to win them any points. and yes, it does matter…these foolish control freaks, who obviously have serious issues to deal with, or they wouldn’t be invading our personal space all the while babbling about its good for you and society to spend 20 years behind bars for a plant. they NEED us, or their entire excuse for earning a living goes down the drain. it might behoove them to play nice….because we don’t have to, you know….

  3. Yes well, we know or at least we should know that the CIA and crew have been dealing drugs for decades. They protect the import of hard drugs, distribute to the higher ups making sure they profit on both ends. It is then parlayed to the middle men who move it into the lower end, this is where the ‘war on drugs’ takes place. Arrest the street level dealers and their customers. Feed the public with their low level arrests so we can all say ‘oh, a job well done’. Then the ‘justice’ system and rehab system gets fed. Meanwhile the real traffickers continue unscathed, get paid and around and around we go. Of course the DEA will continue, they are government associates..you know, the same traffickers who began the whole merry go round in the first place. This is one obscenity amongst many system obscenities, and guess what, it will get far worse. By the way, marijuana negates the effects of Mind Kontrolle (MK Ultra)..gee, this may be one of the reasons for such a hard line approach on a plant that grows in the ground.

  4. There goes the Obama administration clamping down on States rights. Hopefully they prosecute all Coloradans using marijuana. They voted for Obama and they get what they deserve.

    • I like that, the Colorado residents want their drugs but say screw the rest of us and vote Obamuslim! I say F em.

    • Actually, the Obama administration had remained neutral on this subject. It was the Romney ticket that PROMISED a federal ban on recreational AND medicinal marijuana. Do some research before opening your dumb mouth.

      • Typical liberal response…when in doubt attack the counter position on a personal level. You and those like you, who have been numbed and manipulated by Obama and crew, have a wake up call coming soon. When that happens remember you only have yourselves to blame. By the way..this is how you answer a counter position. Not with nasty remarks and immature anger. Sadly this kind of mentality is what Obama has banked on for re-election, and it is in the majority. Well America, it’s been nice knowing you..sorry to see you go.

        • Aw, look! She placed us all in a box, how sweet. So I can assume that you are a free-thinking un-manipulated mind? Please get off of your high horse, we’re all human. I have many liberal friends (including myself) that are unhappy with Obama in office, but quite happy that Romney isn’t going to be there. This wake up call you assume we have coming, please, enlighten us, what is that going to be? Why are YOU so angry?

The name-calling happens on both sides, please don’t pretend to assume that this “typical liberal response” is anything but typical in YOUR experience. Cause it’s not typical in mine.

          Peace.

          • Hmmm, typical again..the old ‘bait and switch’. You sir are the angry one. I needn’t enlighten you, the time to regret the re-election of this narcissistic tyrant will envelop us all soon enough. Conservative patriots are already in mourning, liberals don’t seem to have that awareness as of yet. I expect early doom in terms of an economic armageddon to begin showing its ravaged face mid to late 2013. That is only the beginning of the hell that will transpire as America shifts from freedom into total oppression and moral exclusion while under the control of this fascist regime, Obamanation. As far as the name calling goes..You are guilty of that, why attempt to parlay guilt on innocent parties? At least be honest enough to admit a wrong when you’ve committed one. This type of behavior is one example of why America is on the decline. No honesty, no responsibility. Anyway, your attempt at ruffling my feathers was a waste of your time and mine as well…

  5. I would like to see CO or WA send a letter to the DEA and the DOJ stating that any individuals working for the federal government who try to enforce the void federal “law” shall be prosecuted and sent to prison. Furthermore, I want these states to pass legislation stating that no federal law enforcement officers are allowed to be armed in any way while in either state and if one if found to be armed while trying to enforce the illegal federal “law” they shall be summarily executed on the spot by the state patrol swat teams of the states.

  6. I appreciate the article, but when someone calls our President Barry Soetoro you lose all right to be taken seriously.

    • Um, that’s his name.

      • I thought his name was Barack Hussein Obama? I’m pretty sure he’s always legally gone by that name… is there any evidence to the contrary that isn’t total bs conjecture and hearsay?

        • No one has ever documented the name change. BHO just cropped up around the time he was “jaunting” the US” and Afghanistan.

        • He has more than one identity, just as he uses more than one social security number. What exactly do we know about this ‘man of mystery’? Only those things that have not been buried by Obama paid lawyers. Heck, even the reason for he and wifey’s disbarment is not available. Yes they were disbarred, the excuse they both offered for not holding the title of attorney any longer was ridiculous ..Wake up America…

        • Yes, that was his name as enrolled in school in Indonesia.

      • There are real world things one could do to improve our situation. Obsessing over our President’s ‘real name’ is not one of them.

Thanks for playing. Credibility = Zero

        • I totally disagree. This is not obsessing, this is bringing attention to the fact that this man has many identities, more than one social security number, and a stock pile of information from his birth, to his early education, to his religion, to his academic record, and on and on and on, that is not available to the public. When one is clothed in so many secrets and mysteries, than one is hiding something important. In this imposter’s case, he’s hiding everything. He is after all (unfortunately) the president, and due to this position in our country, we as citizens of this same country have every right to know. Apparently you are one of his mesmerized groupies..and on that note let me congratulate you for helping to sell us all down the Marxist river.

    • Right, that’s his name. Seriously, t4toby, if you’re gonna support the man, you should at least know who he is…

    • Barack Obama (remember while campaigning in 2008 he refused to use Hussein), Barack Hussein Obama, Barry Soetoro, Barry Dunham, Barry Davis, Steven X…wow, he sure loves those numerous identities doesn’t he? Wow, whatta girl, I mean guy.

  7. There afraid of their JOBS!!!
Not realizing when they leave soft drugs, the’ll be able to focus on hard drugs more effectively.
One can spent a dollar only once, one can spent its time only once….
So, be clever, be smart; fight hard drugs and listen to you taxpayer!

    • EXACTLY. They don’t want to spend their lives actually doing something worthwhile and helpful to humanity.

They’re too afraid of losing their obsolete jobs and losing their (TAXPAYER FUNDED) paychecks…

  8. David Woodson 88x - Brighton

We voted! We played your little game and WE WON!! FUCK THE FEDS! You can all rot in hell. We are suppose to be free??? Then you tell us our votes don’t matter.. THAT IS BULL SHIT!

  9. The DEA is funded by taxpayer money. Defund the DEA. Shut it down.

    • De-funding the DEA would be up to Congress and they do not have the balls to do anything. Crying John is just another hand of the Obamuslim regime and demoCRAPIC party. We will shortly see the truth of that as EXECUTive orders begin rolling out of the black house every time congress is in recess which seems to be ALL THE DAMN TIME!

  10. States Rights…. where have I heard this issue before? Ohh yeah 1860′s Civil War… “Those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it”

    • The War of Northern Aggression did not settle anything. All it showed is that a corrupt and wicked sociopath like Lincoln could bring about the death of about 600,000 people. The historic lesson to be learned is that the federal government is a horrible and wicked thing that needs to be eliminated.

  11. im glad 64 passed in colorado now we hear on the news what the cops are going to do now and ect i knew that 1 was comeing and on top of that the state wants to know what the feds are going to but eventualy they”ll say it still illeagle and the feds will tell the state what we say goes or lose the fed funding which i think that marijuana sales will easialy replace what ever they take now the police dont know how to act gee what do they do now ? then the”ll tell us its still illeagle which will be a slap in the voter face again for we as adults know what we want but they”ll say they know better and soforth and the feds are worried that it will cause a show down in court between the states rights and what they say what thier rights are and that they are on top they dont want that figh cause then the rest of the states might start challenge the feds at evey turn good luck to anyone who get caught with any marijuana in thier possision

  12. Hopefully, anyone picked to be on a jury will read up on exactly what “jury nullification” truely is…and then use that express right and power in ANY “trial” prosecuting a, now, legal user of ‘MaryJane’. People picked for the Grand Jury can do the same and actually “no bill” a person the prosecution wants to charge for the use of this lovely weed.

  13. one pissed-off black sheep

If the cops (or feds) are going to ignore constitutional rights and then, going further, ignore the voters confirming their rights then it is the ‘Law-less enforcers’ who are the criminals and treated as such. As long as the sheeple allow these bullies to push them around then you are the slave. If you make a united stand against these bullies then they will back down. The sheeple need to act like the wolves and fight back against the thug cops/criminals.

  14. “If we do this or that or whatever ,we will lose our Federal funding” Is it not true that the States are the ones that fund the Federal Govt. Don’t pass on the money that is collected. ? Keep the income taxes etc in the various States. ? Wouldn’t that be a way out? Have none of you noticed that “Old Glory “on the shoulder patch of the troops Since round about 2000 now has the Stars (representing the States) on the right hand and not on the left. The Stripes represent the Federal Govt. In Heraldry whatever is in the left hand corner is the most important and powerful part of what it represents. Thus you now see the Stripes ( Fed Govt ) as being more important than the Stars ( The States) No one ever wondered or noticed?

  15. we as free citizens never voted in drug law and we as citizen voted out such law as to cannabis we are not to dance to two governments as they are to recognize the STATE . As the federal agencies do to other laws such a gambling , prostitution , ect. IF the people have lost there rights to govern themselves as to town government being superseded by jurisdiction said to be above it all then the constitution limited by its jurisdiction and contract of instruction has been violated therefor those who act would act in any case as an act of war , IF the federal agency persistence and refuse to accept the will of the people in those 18 states and 2 states that came to Legalize then such acts will being gun fights and blood and carnage i see this happening because the federal government is corrupt and many under its wing are prohibitionist and lack logic , they should indeed be accepting and calling for clear view by the president if you continues the war then so be it that is a war .
